I write, edit and photograph things for a living, which is pretty fantastic. Currently, I’m the Associate Editor for Fast Company‘s FastCoLabs, a technology-focused vertical where I frequently cover the data-infused future of music, mass media and the people building it all. Some of my recent work can be found on the Published Writing page.
Before I somehow tricked Fast Company into hiring me, I covered technology trends and news for ReadWrite (formerly ReadWriteWeb), where I wrote for three years.
My work has also appeared on VICE’s The Creators Project, Esquire, Billboard, Philadelphia Weekly, Plan Philly and WHYY’s Newsworks. I also do some teaching and consulting, most recently teaching a course in digital design at Temple University’s journalism school.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer and editor, I managed online publishing and digital products for Review Publishing, a weekly newspaper company in Philadelphia. I’ve been pretty well-immersed in this whole media/journalism world since 2007 and somehow remain enthusiastic about the whole thing.
When I’m not writing, I play drums in a psychedelic rock band based in Philly, where I live with Walter, a cat that willingly wears a bow tie. I also frequent Austin and New York City.
Hit me up with story tips and/or a friendly hello.
