About Me

jpt-headshot-500

Hello. I’m a freelance writer specializing in technology trends, the future of music, new media, digital lifestyle and the social Web. I’m generally fascinated with the way technology is changing culture, media and the way we live our lives (for better or worse).

I also consult with media companies on their digital publishing strategies and teach a digital design course in the Journalism department at Temple University.

Currently, I write primarily for ReadWrite and Fast Company and freelance elsewhere (I’m available for assignments). My work has also appeared on VICE’s The Creators ProjectEsquire, Billboard, The New York Times, Philadelphia Weekly, Plan Philly and WHYY’s Newsworks.

Prior to becoming a full-time writer, I managed digital publishing for a weekly newspaper company where I oversaw Web development, digital product management, online editorial strategy and much, much else.

Some of my recent work can be found on the Published Writing page.

When I’m not writing, I play drums in a psychedelic rock band based in Philly. I really like taking pictures, exploring cities (mine and others) and thinking about the future.

I am currently available for freelance writing assignments and digital publishing consulting work. Some topics I specialize in include social media strategy and SEO for journalists, site architecture and design, content strategy and a variety of content management systems and other Web publishing tools. Interested? Let me know.
